Certified Exports
Garrett Park Guitars is proud to be officially certified to export instruments made with regulated tonewoods, including Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) and Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa).
Why all the regulation? Over the years, these richly toned and beautifully figured hardwoods — especially Brazilian rosewood — have been overharvested due to their popularity in fine furniture and high-end musical instruments. In response, international conservation efforts led to regulations on their trade to protect these species from further depletion.
Today, exporting instruments made with these woods involves a complex permitting process that includes documentation through agencies like the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Without proper certification, even vintage instruments can be held at customs or refused entry entirely.
That’s where we come in.
Garrett Park Guitars holds the appropriate export licenses and permitting to legally and responsibly ship instruments made with these regulated tonewoods to international buyers. We understand the rules, the paperwork, and the stakes — and we’re here to make the process smooth and compliant from start to finish.
If you're an international buyer interested in purchasing an instrument containing Brazilian rosewood or cocobolo, please call or email us for details. We’ll walk you through what’s needed and ensure your guitar arrives safely and legally.
