2008 Bashkin Placencia OM

For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 2008 Bashkin Placencia OM.

Handmade in Colorado, Bashkin guitars incorporate the world’s finest materials into a combination of traditional and contemporary construction methods. If it's built by Michael Bashkin, the result is always an instrument capable of full expression, both visual and tonal, with each element a complement to the whole.

This OM-sized guitar is named for a town on the coast of Belize. It's not hard to imagine what influence the windswept palm trees and crystal shoals of Placencia had on this design: just look at the slightly lithe body, the bridge reminiscent of driftwood, and the understated color palette and adornments. Outwardly, this guitar is easy breezy. But thanks to its Adirondack top and African blackwood back and sides, it's also a full-throated flattop capable of any number of voices, from soothing to scathing.

Overall, this Placencia is quite clean, with only light wear throughout apart from a ding on the bass side of the lower bout (pictured). The only notable issue is a back crack, but this has been repaired by our master luthier, who is friends with Michael Bashkin and more than familiar with his work. (This crack and the cleat repair are both pictured.) Now this guitar has a clean bill of health and it's ready for anything.
