1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb

Garrett Park Guitars

This guitar is in our Hall of Fame Collection and is no longer available for purchase.

For your consideration, Garret Park Guitars presents this 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb AA864

This one owner 1965 Vibrolux Reverb was purchased new in Chicago and came into our shop this past week. We are thrilled to now offer it for sale. This amp is in very clean condition and has its original cover and footswitch. It features the original Jensen C10NS speakers which are dated from 1965, all transformers & reverb pan are dated '65 as well. All of the electronics were carefully tested and serviced as follows; "we replaced capacitors (originals were saved) and the original tubes were tested, performed well, and were retained. The amp is in tip top condition sonically."

This amp came to us in such clean condition, and with such little usage, its very close to being exactly as it was when CBS had just bought Fender in 1965. It retains all the fabulous Blackface tone and with its electronics check up done it will retain that awesome sound reliably for some time.

The Blackface Fender Vibrolux Reverb is one of the more desirable amps of the era. Fender discontinued the Brownface Vibrolux Amp in early '64, almost immediately replacing it with the Vibrolux Reverb. Sporting 35 watts of power from two 6L6 tubes in a 2x10" configuration, these amps broke up fairly early compared to the bigger 6L6 Fenders of the era thanks to their smaller speakers, output transformers, and power transformers. The result is a dreamy-sounding drive that would require blistering volumes or modification to get the same tone out of the bigger Super Reverb or Twin Reverb. As well, you'll notice the "BRIGHT" switches per channel, which do exactly what they say they'll do and create even more tonal possibilities for this killer stage amp.
