1957 Gibson SJ

Garrett Park Guitars

This guitar is in our Hall of Fame Collection and is no longer available for purchase.

For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1957 Gibson SJ.

This is a fantastic sounding guitar, that has the deep rich tone that old Gibson's are known for in spades. A very nice player in very good & original condition, this guitar is all original except a set of reproduction replacement tuners (screw holes are still present but no routing). Comes with its original brown faux alligator soft case(handle broken) . The tone is simple amazing and the playability is excellent as well.

The Gibson Southern Jumbo (also known as the SJ) went through several design changes over its more than two decades of production. While the earliest specimens from the '40s are the most valuable, the '50s still represent a classic era for the model, before the design changed from sloped to square-shoulder in 1962 and ultimately the Norlin takeover of Gibson in the late '60s. In 1970, this model was renamed the Southern Jumbo Deluxe. Like many classic Gibson acoustics, there have been several reissues released in more recent years. The natural finish version of the Southern Jumbo is known as the Country Western.
