1954 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop
For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1954 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop.
Just in is this sweet playing and well loved septuagenarian Gibson Les Paul. We'll start with what matters the most, this is a great playing guitar, with a comfortable C-shaped neck and featuring a resonant acoustic tone that only gets sweeter when you plug it in. The early model P90 pickups give you the option of a crisp and clean tone, but if you've got a tube amp that you want to push to (or, be honest, well past) breakup, they'll handle that with ease. This guitar shows some signs of its age, though nothing out of the ordinary, including some wear on the neck near the lower frets (pictured), a couple of love taps on the headstock including a light/shallow crack/fracture between low and high E tuners on back of headstock, and some unique (and cool) horizontal finish checking. There are signs of touch-up lacquer being applied in one area of the top (near the lower bout/elbow area where the paint is worn down) but no evidence of an overspray or refinish (see blacklight picture). This guitar includes a red leather strap that appears to bear Les Paul's signature and a succinct, yet amiable, message that states, "Hi Bob".
