1965 Gibson SG Special - Polaris White
For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1965 Gibson SG Special in Polaris White with the 1 11/16" nut width.
We recently purchased this SG from a pastor in Florida who inherited it from his senior pastor. It has had two owners both of whom used it in Church and this may explain the abundance of mojo this guitar has. This guitar originated in the old Gibson Kalamazoo Michigan factory and made its way to Florida where it was puchased in 1966. Featuring a supremely comfortable slim-to-medium C shape neck, 1 11/16" nut width and a pair of powerful P-90s, this SG is hard to put down. With a weight of 6lb, this SG is quite nimble despite being laden with tone. The Polaris White finish is all original and untouched although it appears to have had a sticker on it below the bridge which has left a shadow. The nickel parts are all in good shape, and the knobs all work perfectly with no noise or crackling. The P-90s sound simply amazing and this guitars tone is fantastic, with screaming lead tones all the way to subtle and expressive nuances. It has the small pickguard, lighting bridge and Gibson Vibrola tremolo, all of which are original. The tuners were replaced at one point with Schallers, however we retrofitted a set of original Kluson double line strip tuners and replaced the tips for ease of tuning. There are several holes from the extra screws for the Schallers which our luthier has expertly filled and touched up the remaining holes. Overall the condition is quite nice with a few scars that enhance its appearance. We have the original case which can be shipped separately but this guitar will ship, double boxed in a newer TKL to protect its journey.
