For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this exceptional 1965 Fender Stratocaster.

There is something especially appealing about a Stratocaster that has simply been allowed to live its life, and this example wears its history beautifully. With an aged Sunburst finish, natural checking, arm wear, and buckle rash, this is a guitar with genuine character without crossing into the realm of being overly worn. Best of all, it remains structurally excellent, with no cracks, breaks, repair history, or refinishing.

The details are quintessential mid-’60s Fender. A Brazilian rosewood veneer fingerboard, mint green pickguard, pearloid dot markers, double-line Kluson Deluxe tuners, and the transitional headstock all contribute to the unmistakable look of a 1965 Stratocaster. As one of the last L-series Strats produced, this guitar also represents an interesting moment in Fender history, with components spanning early, mid, and late 1965.

The electronics are particularly noteworthy. A trio of untouched grey-bottom Stratocaster pickups are paired with original potentiometers and cloth-bound wiring. The main solder joint has been flowed, but we can detect no evidence of rewinding to either pickup. DCR readings are 5.60KΩ at the bridge, 5.48KΩ in the middle, and 5.97KΩ at the neck. Even the factory frets remain in place and in good shape.

At 7lbs 11oz, this Stratocaster has the feel of a substantial but comfortable vintage instrument, with a Medium C neck, 1.66" nut width, and .81" depth at the first fret. Taken as a whole, the combination of originality, period-correct details, and honest wear makes this a particularly compelling example of a mid-’60s Strat.

This Stratocaster is accompanied by its original hardshell case, tremolo arm, and bridge cover.
