For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 2015 Gibson Custom Shop Collectors Choice #29 with Historic Makeovers upgrades
This guitar has had a very interesting journey. It started out its life as a 2015 Collectors Choice #29 Tamio Okuda, direct from the Gibson Custom Shop. From there, it was sent down to Orlando, Florida to Kim Lafleur for the Deluxe makeover (please read the full description below).
It was finished in a striking cherry red, using 50's style lacquer and finishing techniques, refitted with a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, late 1960s Gibson patent sticker humbuckers (with nickel covers) and a set of 50's era Grover tuners. This lovely Les Paul weighs in at 8 lbs 11 oz.
Some additional upgrades were done to the guitar:
From the Gibson Custom Shop Website:
Japanese rock star Tamio Okuda's prized original '59 Les Paul is beautifully re-created with distinctive dish and neck carve, Historic truss rod, and gently faded sunburst finish.
From Historic Makeovers website:
Our most complete Makeover for Gibson Historics. On all guitars, we re-carve the top to vintage spec, reshape the neck to vintage “C” shape, and use hot hide glue to install a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with correct binding ledge and inlay routs. We inlay the fingerboard with our exclusive 1950’s style cellulose nitrate inlays and install frets. The fingerboard and guitar body are bound with our Royalite binding and the fingerboard binding edges are rolled. The guitar is completely refinished with aniline dyes and unplasticized nitrocellulose lacquer in one of our vintage correct finishes. The package includes a Vintage Patina (weather-checking and aging optional). We also re-stamp the serial number in a correct 50’s typeface.
It comes with the original hardshell case and all case candy.
Condition: Mint as described
Serial Number: 9 1165
