For your consideration Garrett Park Guitars presents this 2002 Rick Kelly Custom

Rick Kelly builds guitars in New York City for clients like Bob Dylan,  Lou Reed, Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell, Chris Whitely, Robert Quine, G.E. Smith, Roger Waters, & Metallica to name a few.

He uses woods that are reclaimed and is famous for his Bowery Guitars that are built from 200 year old Adirondack Pine that was used framing out the old buildings in the city. His work combines art & function masterfully.

He also makes Custom Guitars from the same old woods as is the case with this S inspired model he built for the late great Robert Quine who was a sideman to Lou Reed (think the soaring intro to Sweet Jane from the live version of Rock & Roll animal 1973) and a father of the New York pink scene. Utilizing 100 year old swamp ash and aged Gabon Ebony this guitar has a unique tonal palette that frankly surprised us (pleasantly so).

All woods are old growth: The Gabon Ebony board has a 12" radius, the body is 100 year old Arkansas swamp ash and the exquisite birds eye maple neck is also old Arkansas wood. The pickups are Lindy Fralin Vintage Hots. Neck profile is a comfortable C shape with a .85" depth and 1.650" width at the first fret.

Finished as a Mary Kay style with a whitewash finish and gold parts these guitar is very visually pleasing. The tone is exquisite, harnessing both traditional Strat tones and deeper mid rangy fullness. The craftsmanship is spectacular and on par with any other Master builder out there. Comes with its original Carmine Street gig bag, (hardshell case available for a few extra bucks).
