For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1966 Gibson Hummingbird.
Introduced in 1960, the Hummingbird was Gibson’s first square-shoulder dreadnought, combining an ornate, folky aesthetic with the warm, balanced voice of a mahogany-bodied acoustic. This 1966 example features a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and the model’s signature Hummingbird pickguard, complemented by parallelogram inlays and original gold Kluson Deluxe tuners.
With its 1 9/16" nut and medium C profile, this Hummingbird offers a breezy playing experience. Its balanced, dry tone sits nicely behind a vocal, making it the perfect choice for a singer-songwriter or accompanist.
All components remain original down to the bridge plate and the guitar is in excellent cosmetic condition, showing below-average wear for its age. Structurally, it is in very good condition following a visit to our luthier, who performed a neck reset, repaired a top crack (shown here), and reglued two loose tone bars making it good to go for years to come. It comes with its original Gibson hardshell case.
