1961 Gibson J-50

Garrett Park Guitars

This guitar is in our Hall of Fame Collection and is no longer available for purchase.

For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1961 Gibson J-50.

We just purchased this nice old J-50 from the grandson of the original owner, Archie Cooper, who bought it new in Akron Ohio in '61. Somewhere along the way he decided to electrify the guitar and added a soundhole pickup, an input jack by the end pin and volume and tone controls in the top to the left and right of the neck where it joins the body. These modifications were later removed and the holes covered. The top holes were covered with what looks like cuff links and the endpin jack with a red jewel lamp. Now for the good news.. The guitar is clean and crack free, it has the 1 11/16" nut width, and very clean and comfortable neck. It plays magnificently and sounds fantastic with that rich Gibson slope shoulder tone. It is also priced significantly less than one that was not altered. Comes with its original brown alligator case.

Serial Number: 23522

Condition: Excellent player vintage/Altered
