1944 Gibson SJ with Factory conversions to 1966 J-160E
For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1944 Gibson SJ/1966 Gibson J-160E.
Who knows why people decide to alter their guitars, but that is exactly what George Whitley did, sending his Banner logo 1944 Southern Jumbo back to Gibson in Chicago in 1965 to be converted to J-160E specifications. Perhaps the neck was broken or otherwise damaged as this now has the mid-1960s neck profile and logo but there is more; an extra pickguard, a P-90, and volume and tone controls were added too.
Ok, for the good news... Our luthier restored this one back to perfect playing health including a rebrace, new bridge plate, center crack repair with cleat, pickguard reglue, bridge restoration, newer tuners, and a neck reset.
This J160E is playing better than ever and it sounds phenomenal plugged & unplugged.
Case: Hard brown case
Condition: Very Good Restored
