About Garrett Park Guitars
For over 30 years, Garrett Park Guitars has been a trusted source for rare, collectible, and vintage guitars. Founded in 1991 by Rick Hogue — a lifelong guitarist with a deep reverence for the golden era of American guitar building — the shop quickly became a go-to destination for players, collectors, and vintage gear enthusiasts alike.
Rick started GPG with a simple idea: to connect great guitars with people who truly appreciate them. What began as a one-man operation in Garrett Park, Maryland has grown into a globally recognized business known for its integrity, expertise, and carefully curated inventory. In 2022, Alex Stinton joined the team, bringing fresh energy and a shared passion for preserving guitar history. With a background in music retail and a collector’s eye, Alex complements Rick’s decades of experience and helps carry GPG’s legacy forward.
Together, Rick and Alex specialize in vintage American guitars — especially fine examples from Fender, Gibson, and Martin made between the 1930s and 1960s. From clean pre-war Martins to custom-color ‘60s Fenders, their inventory reflects a deep knowledge of the market and a genuine love for these instruments.
While Garrett Park Guitars serves collectors and musicians around the world, it remains intentionally small and hands-on. Every guitar is evaluated, photographed, and handled with the care it deserves — and every customer gets the kind of personal attention that’s hard to find elsewhere.
We’re open by appointment only. If you're looking to buy, sell, or just talk shop, get in touch. We’d be happy to hear your story — and maybe add a new chapter to one of ours.

Rick Hogue – Founder
Rick has been passionate about vintage guitars since the early 1980s, when he started buying and selling instruments alongside his day job. In 1991, he took that passion full-time and established Garrett Park Guitars.
Known for his deep knowledge of American brands like Fender, Gibson, Martin, and especially PRS, Rick has contributed to The Official Vintage Guitar Price Guide for years and is recognized as an authority in the vintage guitar community.
When he’s not hunting down rare finds or helping collectors and players, Rick enjoys gigging with his band, traveling, fishing, and savoring a good bourbon.

Alex Stinton - Operations Manager
Alex picked up his first guitar at age 10 after seeing a commercial for The Beatles 1 album — and from that moment, music became a part of his life. As a teenager, he wrote songs and played in bands, but his path took a detour when he pursued a master’s degree with plans to teach literature.
It wasn’t long before Alex realized the classroom wasn’t where his true passion lay. In 2022, he followed his love of music and vintage gear by joining Garrett Park Guitars, where he now oversees day-to-day operations, manages inventory, and helps customers find exactly what they’re looking for.
When he’s not helping collectors find the perfect instrument, Alex enjoys crosswords, fishing, and sharing a cold beer with friends.
