For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1965 Gibson SG Standard.

The Gibson SG is one of the more notable solid body guitars in rock and roll history. Players like Tom Petty, George Harrison, Angus Young, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton and on and on have embraced the SG and made history with it.

This all-original guitar is from very early in 1965 but it has most all of the best features of the 1964. Only the Maestro tremolo cover is chrome, the rest of its parts are nickel. It has a 1 11/16" nut width and a nice comfortable feeling neck profile that is C shaped and slightly chunky.

Condition wise this one is a winner, lightly weather-checked, it shows very little marks of use especially considering its age. The fingerboard is in good shape and the frets have plenty of life, not needing to be refretted. The two Patent sticker pickups sound great too.

1964 is considered to be the year the SG came into its own, no longer a Les Paul the SG brand stood on its own. The necks thickness was increased and the Bigsby and sideways Vibrola tailpiece gave way to the more usable and reliable Maestro tailpiece. The playability of this guitar is nearly perfect thanks to the correct neck angle giving the player the option to lower or raise the action as the bridge can easily be adjusted up or down.
