1939 Kalamazoo KG 3/4 Sport

Kalamazoo

This guitar is in our Hall of Fame Collection and is no longer available for purchase.

For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1939 Kalamazoo KG 3/4 Sport

Gibson produced the Kalamazoo line right alongside their more expensive models. This guitar was made as smaller 3/4 size guitar in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and features a sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, and what appears to be the original black hard shell case. The Kalamazoo "Sport Model' was a very cool little 3/4 guitar, built on the body pattern of 1920's TG-1 tenor guitar. At just over 12" wide "Sport" is a demure size compared with some of the other Kalamazoo models. Outfitted with early Kluson strip tuners and adorned with the standard Kalamazoo silkscreen logo, it also features the"Sport Model" designation beneath. The top "sports" a typically nice late-30's style wide sunburst, with single binding on the edge and soundhole and a small firestripe celluloid pickguard. Made primarily for young students this is still a nicely made instrument fully the equal of other Kalamazoo models. Our luthier, Taras Andre, has just done a neck reset to get this guitar in full playing order.

Dimension: Overall length is 36 3/8 ", 12 5/8 " wide at lower bout, & 3 7/8" in depth at side. Scale length is 23 ". Nut width is 1 9/16 ".
