This Blackguard Telecaster features moderate to heavy relicing throughout, giving it the look and feel of a well-played vintage instrument while delivering modern playability. Built by Master Luthier John Cruz, it combines classic '50s Tele aesthetics with meticulous craftsmanship for a guitar that sounds as good as it looks.

This guitar is part of Fender's Master Vintage Player's (MVP) Series, a collaboration between John Cruz and Make'n Music’s Teddy Gordon. The MVP Series represents Cruz’s vision of vintage-inspired instruments with modern refinements, carefully designed to capture the tone, feel, and attention to detail of classic Fender guitars while offering contemporary playability and reliability. Each MVP guitar reflects a deep understanding of vintage specs, materials, and finishing techniques, making them highly collectible and sonically authentic.

This particular instrument is in excellent condition with intentional heavy relicing. All woods used were handpicked for tone and lightweight response. The neck features 6105 frets and a 9.5” fingerboard radius for effortless playability. The hand-wound pickups deliver classic Blackguard snap and clarity — complemented by a discreetly integrated extra flatpole pickup mounted beneath the pickguard. Activated via the push-button on the volume pot, this hidden addition expands the tonal palette with a thicker, fuller voice when engaged. Seamlessly woven into the traditional control layout, it preserves the guitar’s authentic ’50s character while offering a tasteful modern enhancement for players seeking added versatility without compromising vintage integrity.
