For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1984 Gibson Citation (#19).
On consignmnet, this stunning, sunburst Citation showcases Gibson’s finest craftsmanship, featuring ornate adornments from headstock to tailpiece. Gibson produced very few of these guitars—a rarity that speaks to the elevated nature of their construction: the luthiers who crafted them, for example, meticulously hand-selected each and every piece of spruce, flamed maple, and ebony based on aesthetic and tonal properties. And how better to complement the finest tonewoods? Well, with 24-karat gold of course.
Each Citation was given a registration number: this is #19, finished on June 25, 1984, probably among the last (if not the last) Citation made before the series ended. Number 19 is all-original down to the solder joints. Its binding, inlays, and hardware are in excellent condition. Likewise, the sunburst finish shows virtually no play-wear or weather-checking. The only exceptions to this near-mint condition are three faint cracks on top (two to the left of the tailpiece, one to the right). These cracks were repaired professionally sometime ago and pose no risk to the guitar's structural or tonal integrity. Otherwise, the guitar looks as good today as it did 40 years ago leaving the Gibson factory.
While this Citation is missing its factory case, it comes with an original Citation hardshell case (for #21), pictured here.
