1966 Fender Jazz Bass
For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1966 Fender Jazz Bass.
This 1966 Fender Jazz Bass comes to us from a time of great transition within Fender. Along with the change of ownership in 1964, Fender was making many changes to its instrument lineup through the mid-60s. Period-specific appointments include a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays, a capped maple neck with no skunk-stripe, and oval 'lollipop' tuners.
As far as playability, this J bass is smooth and plays effortlessly. The bridge pickup has nice treble response and the neck pickup has a more rounded-off tone. With both pickups fully engaged, you get the classic scooped mid 'growl' that many slap players, such as Jaco Pastorius and Marcus Miller, made waves with. The tone control cuts a bit of the high frequencies to round out the overall tone of the bass. The bridge cover has been removed but is included along with the original hardshell case.
