By 1964, the SG Standard had replaced the Les Paul as Gibson’s premier solidbody electric, defined by its lightweight, deeply contoured mahogany body and powerful humbucking pickups. Instruments from this period are especially prized for their Brazilian rosewood fingerboards, comfortable neck profiles, and the legendary Patent Sticker humbuckers that shaped the sound of countless classic recordings.

This particular example remains in near-mint condition, an increasingly rare distinction for a pre-Norlin SG. The original Cherry Red nitrocellulose lacquer finish is remarkably well-preserved, retaining strong color saturation with minimal fade and only the lightest evidence of careful use.
