In 2010 Gibson Custom shop started the year off by celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1960 Les Paul considered by many to be the "Holy Grail".

This is a minty 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Reissue that was part of their Pre-Production run. A very Limited Edition from 2010 with the version 2 neck shape. This 1960 Historic Les Paul has a carved figured maple top, mahogany body, 1 piece mahogany neck, long neck tenon, version 2 mid 60’s neck profile, rosewood fingerboard, 24-3/4” scale length, 22 frets, aged trapezoid inlays, 1-11/16” nut width, vintage tulip tuners, lightweight aluminum stop bar tailpiece, gold top-hat knobs, and PAF humbucking pickups.

Version 2 represents the neck’s transition from full to slim—a progression that was gradual, rather than sudden—in the form of a Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard with thinner, yet still somewhat rounded and “elliptical” neck profile, based on painstaking research and detailed scans of several transitional ’60s Les Pauls that were studied by the Custom Historic and Engineering team.
