For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars proudly presents this 1969 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop, a beautifully preserved example from the model's inaugural year. With its one piece mahogany body, three piece mahogany neck, and absence of Volute on the back of the headstock this Les Paul Deluxe exhibits all the characteristics of the first year of production of the Deluxe model.
Bearing serial number 855927, this vintage Gibson showcases the timeless aesthetics, craftsmanship, and unmistakable tone that have made the Les Paul one of the world's most celebrated electric guitars.
The classic carved maple top over a one piece mahogany body retains its original gold lacquer, which has aged gracefully. Weighing 9lb 11oz, the guitar offers the substantial feel players expect from a late-'60s Les Paul while remaining well balanced. Original hardware includes the ABR-1, stopbar, pickguard, knobs, and strap buttons, preserving the instrument's outstanding originality. The only non-original part is the input jack plate.
The neck features a comfortable rounded C profile with a generous 1.69" nut width, measuring .82" at the first fret and 1.05" at the twelfth. Paired with a rosewood fingerboard, pearl trapezoid inlays, and the original Kluson Deluxe double-line tuners, it delivers the familiar feel and effortless playability that have made vintage Les Pauls enduring favorites. The original frets remain in very good condition, showing only honest wear and patina.
The electronics remain original throughout, including the sought-after mini-humbuckers, potentiometers, wiring, and original 3-way switch. Measuring a healthy 6.93kΩ at the bridge and 6.88kΩ at the neck, the pickups produce the articulate clarity, focused midrange, and warm sustain that define the Les Paul Deluxe's distinctive voice.
Condition is excellent, with only below-average cosmetic wear for its age, including some buckle rash, and no cracks, breaks, or repairs. Its exceptional originality and careful preservation make it equally appealing to discerning collectors and players seeking an authentic late-'60s Gibson.
With its first-year pedigree, outstanding condition, and remarkably original specification, this 1969 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop is a superb example of one of Gibson's most beloved vintage models—an inspiring instrument with timeless looks, unmistakable tone, and lasting collectible appeal.
