1921 Martin 0-18K

This guitar is in our Hall of Fame Collection and is no longer available for purchase.

For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1921 Martin 0-18K.

The story with this '21 Martin starts with a trip to Virginia and finding some old project guitars. When we picked up this 0-18K, it was holding on for dear life. The top was separating, missing a good amount of binding and purfling, there were 8-10 old cracks on the top, virtually every brace was loose, or had fallen off, along with desperately needing a neck reset and fretwork.

Our on-site luthier Taras Andre, patiently restored this piece to playing status, and brought it back from the scrap pile. He removed the back of the guitar, sealed and cleated all of the cracks, reglued all of the braces, and cleaned up decades of filth that had built up over the years. He sanded and refinished the top to match the rest of the guitar. All repairs were done with hot hide glue to maintain the originality of the instrument.

Throughout all of the restoration process, the only non-original part of the guitar is the finish on the top. The diamond bridge and ebony nut are rarely seen on these guitars. The original tuners are in 100% working condition with the original tuner knobs.

It wasn't until the very end of the restoration that we buffed out the headstock and revealed the gorgeous headstock veneer. Once the guitar was strung up and playable the results spoke for themselves. This guitar is truly a phoenix that has risen from the ashes.
